What happened to the bass player for the Eagles?

You mean Randy Meisner, who played bass on the first 5 Eagles albums.

My opinion is that he just grew weary of being in show business. He was a great bassist and he loved playing music, but he just didn’t like all the things that came with it. The touring, the pressure in the studio, the business, etc. At some point, it just became too much for him and he decided to leave the band. His replacement, Timothy B. Schmidt, who played on the final Eagles studio album of the 70s, has remained with the band through all their reunion tours.

The ironic thing is that when Randy Meisner left Poco to join the Eagles in 1971, Timothy B. Schmidt also replaced him in that band.
