As venues and artists around the world attempt to solve the issue of how to safely host performances, a new initiative in Denver is bringing electronic music and art to the streets.

Launching this weekend (Aug. 27-29), The Acoma Street Project is a six-week limited pop-up event featuring live-streamed DJs sets, an immersive art-walk and dining.

Blond:ish, Dubfire and Random Rab will perform during the first event. Artists will play their sets from off-site locations and be livestreamed from a 26-foot screen visible throughout the event.

Attendees will also be able to roam a 5,000 square foot art walk gallery, with works for sale by Denver-based artists. Festival scene star artist Android Jones will also perform visual shows.

With safety as the primary concern, particularly in the wake of the headlines surrounding a July performance by The Chainsmokers that didn’t adhere to social distance guidelines, The Acoma Street Project will operate, organizers say, “in strict accordance” with a health and safety plan.

This plan requires masks and social distancing, with attendees to be escorted through the art-walk in separate and staggered groups before they return to their private area for dinner and music. Contactless payment methods and hand sanitizer will be available throughout the venue.
