Hmm, that’s hard to say.
I think I might start with Peter Gabriel’s sometime bassist, Tony Levin.
Speaking of which, when Peter Gabriel left Genesis and Phil Collins took over lead vocals, they needed someone to play drums on tour. I think Bill Bruford would be a nice addition to my band. Particularly since he’s no stranger to “supergroups”… here is is with three guys from Yes…
Personally, I’ve always thought Adrian Belew was the best guitarist David Bowie ever toured with. He can even sing… one of his solo albums had one of my favorite songs (Big Electric Cat) on it when I was a kid.
And mentioning David Bowie makes me think of Robert Fripp, who always seemed to pop up for guitars on my favorite art-rock projects… from Bowie to Brian Eno to, well, David Bowie with Brian Eno.
So yeah, I’d probably go with Tony Levin, Bill Bruford, Adrian Belew and Robert Fripp as my super group. Then I’d name them King Crimson. Because… why mess with perfection?
